From 16th to the 19th October, the autumn conference of the network sneep ("ethics & economics") took place in Kassel. A multi-disciplinal audience and speaker round discussed the subject "Sustainability in the value-added chain".
Among the speakers was Miriam Fritz, Berners Consulting Senior Consultant for China Projects. Miriam Fritz reported on the panel of experts of company representative and scientists about challenges of the transparency in Chinese Supply Chains, about solutions and successful exemplary projects, like for example the Fairstone e.V. project. She emphasized the importance of direct dialogue with all local Stakeholders of the value chain, in order to also share experiences about the environment, social standards and health standards with the dynamic Chinese emerging market.
The experts placed a special focus on questions of the feasibility and implementation of sustainable supply chain standards in emerging market and developing countries, both for medium-sized companies and for multinational corporations..
With the closing panel discussion, the speakers gave her experiences to the questions (1) how to get local stakeholders on board; (2) what concrete methods and instruments can facilitate effective communication and (3) how to make the constructive stakeholder diaologue a permanent and self-sustaining feature in the Chinese supply chains.
